Staff Sergeant Corey Dewayne Smith
Staff Sergeant Corey Dewayne Smith, age 26, is currently serving at Camp Cropper in Iraq as a paralegal specialist. In this position, Smith assists the Staff Judge Advocate in advising high ranking commanders with legal options concerning missions, and performing research on military regulations as well as U.S. and international law. In his civilian life, Smith works as a sales and marketing manager, but now plans to pursue law when he returns to the United States. Smith says that "the Army Reserve is a great family to be a part of and when it's all said and done&endash;I know I contributed. I know I made this (world) a better place." Smith's brother is a Staff Sgt. in the Army, and is also deployed in Iraq. His wife Kimberly resides in his hometown of Grifton, North Carolina. Smith was one of 100 Soldiers to re-enlist in the Army Reserve on January 18, 2008, during a special 100th Anniversary ceremony that took place in Baghdad, Iraq.
