Staff Sergeant Kelvin Hardy
Staff Sergeant Kelvin Hardy, age 35, was in active duty for 11 years and preparing to retire, when his supervisor helped convince him to participate in the Active-Guard-Reserve program. As an Army Reserve soldier, Hardy has gained a wide variety of skills. He appreciates the significance of the Army Reserve and states that "the Army wouldn't be able to fight without the Reserve." He continues by saying, "it is... difficult to be an Army Reserve Soldier... because you have to be able to top and re-start your life at a moment's notice." Hardy was one of 100 Soldiers to re-enlist in the Army Reserve on January 18, 2008, during a special 100th Anniversary ceremony that took place in Baghdad, Iraq.
