Major David W. Hnida
Major David W. Hnida, joined the U.S. Army Reserve in late 2003 when he saw the dire need for more doctors in the military. He has volunteered for deployment two times to Iraq and will be deploying a third time in 2009. During Dr. Hnida's first deployment he served as a battalion surgeon and during his second he served as a trauma doctor in a combat support hospital. He decided to enlist in the Army Reserve because he realized that he possessed a skill that was much needed by our nation's troops.
In his civilian career, Dr. Hnida is a physician in Denver, Colorado who has been practicing both family and emergency medicine since 1983. He is also a medical reporter for the local CBS affiliate in Denver. He states that both the hospital and television station are extremely cooperative and supportive in regards to his Army Reserve demands.
