Major Daniel Cederman
Major Daniel Cederman participated in ROTC to help pay for his college education. In 1997 after completing his undergraduate degree, Cederman decided to enlist in the Active Army, in which he served until 2004. Cederman then joined the Army Reserve because he says he still wanted to be a part of the military and realized that "Army has been my life." Deployed twice through the Active Army and once through the Army Reserve, Cederman is an S-3 plans officer for the military. During his first deployment to Iraq, he helped build schools and implement a water purification system. During his second deployment in 2006, Cederman assisted in developing reading and writing initiatives to improve the educational issues in Iraq. He also worked with USAID, Oil 4 Food and with the small business loan center.
In his civilian career, Cederman began working in April 2004 for Target as a group leader in their distribution department. He says that Target has been extremely supportive of his service. Approximately 15-20% of Target's employees in Ft. Louis, Washington are in the military; therefore they understand and cooperate with the Soldiers' scheduling. When discussing the Army Reserve's 100 year history, the force's current state and future, he states that the "Army Reserve training is right on par with Active Duty" and that the "Skill level continues to increase."
Originally from Akron, New York, Cederman currently resides in Ft. Louis, Washington.
